Big D Laughs

John and I ventured down to Dallas this weekend for a friend's birthday and, once again, established why we left Big D in the first place.

At the party, we caught up with friends, all of Johns college buddies, and listened to some great music. And then the band played . . .

  • Four guys in "service station" shirts, sunglasses, and roughly the same frat - daddy physique, prompting responses from the audience by asking if "your woman is a B****, stand up and 'holla' " and so forth before playing a song
  • The group of Fro's female friends of a friend that showed up and buried themselves into their iPhones the entire evening, only looking up to share what applications they had (why did they get all dolled up to come out if they are just going to sit there and not socialize with anyone around them?)
  • The living situation is hilarious to me - Dallas cannot decide how to identify itself: South Beach, LA, southern, New York, etc. Condos going up left and right, each trying to establish itself as "the place to be" and "elite Dallas".
  • Brunch at an uptown hotspot that is perfect for people watching. When you go out for brunch in Tulsa, most people simply run a brush through the hair, throw on some comfy clothes and go. Not in Dallas. Guys with their hair "just so", girls in platforms and stillettos, wearing the shortest of shorts and gobs of makeup. Wow.

Love you Tulsa.
